Chapter Community Activities
One of the Los Alamitos Area Chapter’s special projects is the support of 18 local high school Junior ROTC programs. At our annual JROTC Recognition Dinners with the Cadet, his/her parents and the JROTC Instructor present, an outstanding cadet from each school is recognized and presented the MOAA Award Certificate, along with a monetary stipend. The MOAA JROTC Medal is presented to the cadet at his/her schools’ Annual JROTC Awards Ceremony by a Chapter representative. In addition, the Chapter similarly supports the outstanding cadets from two Senior ROTC programs as well as presenting gold bars to all graduating ROTC seniors. Additionally, the Chapter supports the Bob Hope USO facility at Orange County Airport by funding snack and beverages for visiting service personnel.
The Los Alamitos Chapter, MOAA supports the MOAA national legislative agenda and invites guest speakers who are knowledgeable on current issues. The Los Alamitos Chapter also supports the California Council of Chapters in various state military and veterans’ issues including repeal of the state income tax on military retired pay.
